RAWALPINDI: Chairman Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) said Sunday that the construction work of Rawalpindi Ring Road’s main carriageway from Baanth (N-5) to Thallian (M-2) would be completed in the span of two years.
Tariq Mehmood Murtaza said RDA had awarded a Rs22.8 billion contract to the Frontier Works Organization (FWO).
Murtaza said the FWO was the lowest bidder after the technical and financial bids were opened in the presence of all the stakeholders. He said the main aim of the project was to aid in easing congestion on the transportation system of twin cities. Moreover, he added that the fast and efficient route for trade would provide economic benefit to the residing communities.
It is pertinent to state that construction of interchanges is also part of the project, he and after the road’s completion, there would be an ease in the traffic flow in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
