RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has announced to launch an urban forestry project, spreading over an area of three acres at Rialto Park alongside Murree Road, to rehabilitate the green cover and wildlife habitat in the city.
The approved project will commence next week.
Under this, a variety of fruit tree saplings, indigenous to the Potohar region, including guava, grape, amla, blackberry and apricot saplings, are to be planted.
The authority will further impose regular financial duties to protect the plants.
In addition, flowering plants will also be planted in the forest.
The enclosed forest project will also include adequate sidewalks, walking tracks and benches to accommodate the visitors.
The authorities will also install close-circuit cameras across the parks.
The project is scheduled to be completed by August 31.
