Federal Minister Ali Zaidi briefed on the second phase of the Clean Karachi initiative which will focus on lifting all the garbage from the garbage dumps, which will later be transported to landfill sites.

He further urged the local residents of the city to help identify all such sites, so the government can take necessary measures to clean them.

Prime Minister Imran Khan, in close partnership with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-led local government, directed the Clean Karachi campaign to be kicked off. Federal institutions like Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) and the National Logistics Cell helped in this drive.

He further added that no deadline will be set for the second phase as it is not time-bound. The goal is clean up every district and street of the city, as this has been started from Lyari, due to the area being severely affected.

FWO and Karachi Port Trust (KPT) have stepped up to manage an independent bank account, where various individuals and organisations have been giving their donations.

He thanked Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and LG Minister Nasir Hussain Shah for their cooperation.

For a safer environment, CM Murad Ali Shah has launched the Blue Jacket Campaign and even announced a ban on the use of plastic bags, which is quite appreciable
