SME Policy 2019 to boost Pakistan’s economy

Punjab government approves upgradation of Pir Mahal and Chishtian tehsil to district level

Lahore: While speaking at the meeting of the National Steering Committee on Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), a draft for the new SME Policy 2019 by Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Smeda) was reviewed by the committee.

Adviser to PM on Commerce, Abdul Razak Dawood said that around 99 percent of the economic establishments were SMEs and thus appreciated Smeda for preparing the draft in alignment with government’s economic priorities. He praised the new draft’s focus on sustainability in SME growth and new enterprise creation by aiming at generating jobs and boosting exports.

Federal Industries and Production Secretary Aamir Ashraf Khawaja while speaking on the occasion said SME’s required public support for greater competitiveness in global markets.
