According to details, under the Bicycle Lane Project (BLP) of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), cycling tracks spanning 374 kilometers will be constructed in different sectors and areas of Islamabad over a period of 18 months, at a cost of 2.4 billion rupees. These cycling tracks will be built on roads connected to projects such as the Blue Line, Green Double Lane, Jinnah Avenue, Metro Bus routes including Red Double Line, Purple Line, and others. This will enable commuters exiting the Metro Bus to utilize the cycling tracks. Similarly, under this project, every sector of Islamabad will be connected via cycling tracks.

Furthermore, as part of the BLP, 150 parking stands will also be constructed to provide citizens with affordable bike-sharing facilities. It is worth noting that each stand will accommodate more than 40 electronic bikes, and the project aims to phase out petrol-driven bikes gradually.

The inauguration ceremony of the Bicycle Lane Project (BLP) is scheduled to take place in the coming days, with special guest Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif.

Additionally, under this project, appropriate arrangements for lighting, security, and other necessary measures will be made in the lanes. The management of the Capital Development Authority emphasizes that eliminating environmental pollution and providing a healthy environment for the citizens of Islamabad are among the agency’s top priorities.
