Overview of People’s Square, Karachi

People’s Square officially opened on August 14, 2020, to mark the celebration of Pakistan’s Independence Day.

This project is a component of the Karachi Neighbourhood Improvement Project (KNIP), which will bring about further development in around 22 other neighbourhoods of Karachi. Additionally, the World Bank and the Sindh Government worked together on this initiative.

This prime location was selected to avoid any parking issues in the future; the place offers visitors an underground, two-floor parking space that can accommodate nearly 300 cars. There are also extra facilities, including a seating area and a small food court.

Location of People’s Square

People’s Square is located in Saddar Town, which is one of the city’s oldest districts. It serves as a commercial and business hub, located beside some of Karachi’s most prominent neighbourhoods: Meethadar, Bolton Market, Kharadar, and Jodia Bazar.

The Arts Council, SM Law College, DJ Science College, and Burns Garden are a few of the area’s most notable spots. The National Museum of Pakistan is also close to People’s Square, located at the intersection of Strachan Road and Shahrah-e-Kamal Attaturk.

In order to get there from DHA and Clifton, you can take the Chaudhry Khaliq-uz-Zaman Road and then onwards to Dr. Ziauddin Ahmed Road. You can use the M.A. Jinnah Road via Shahrah-e-Quaideen from areas like PECHS, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Johar, F.B. Area, and Nazimabad.

Amenities

One of the biggest facilities at People Square is the designated underground parking space – over 350 vehicles, including cars and motorcycles, can park here.

In addition, it includes a walking track with benches placed on the side. There are also several kiosks and cafes where you can grab your favourite snacks.

There are several landmarks scattered throughout People’s Square that people can visit. People’s Square is an ideal spot for families, as well as students and the working class, especially to take a break from their busy schedules.

Famous Attractions

Some of the most well-known restaurants in Karachi are located there. There are a variety of options to choose from, including traditional favourites like sajji, haleem and nihari. Burns Road, the most famous food street of Karachi, is also located a short distance from here.

It offers an extensive menu of Pakistani food; Mazaidar Haleem & Foods, Azad Bun Kabab House and Waheed Kabab House are amongst the most popular places here.

There are many family-friendly attractions here as well, like the National Museum of Pakistan, one of Karachi’s most popular museums, as was previously mentioned. Jehangir Park, the Quaid-e-Azam House Museum, and Frere Hall are also a short drive away from here.
